Welcome to the Asquith High School Micro-credential Catalogue, your gateway to flexible learning opportunities that build valuable skills. These short courses are offered online, in person, or through blended learning.
Micro-credentials extend classroom learning by offering specialised experiences beyond the standard curriculum. They give students the chance to challenge themselves, develop their strengths, and explore new interests and potential career pathways. Through these opportunities, students build adaptability, creativity and practical skills that support future study and employment.
At Asquith High School, we have curated a range of micro-credentials for our students in the following areas.
Accreditation and skills
Description: Aussies lead the world in coffee-making. Our baristas are world class. Our 5 hour barista course results in a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment bearing the units of competency SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee and SITXFSA005, Use hygienic practices for food safety (issued by CBD College, RTO# 91399). This course can be completed in one day or split over separate days (3 hours one day, 2 hours on another)

Description: This course, provided by St John NSW, covers the following: roles and responsibilities of the first aider, the DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations, managing unconscious casualties, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using a defibrillator (AED), legal issues in first aid, infection control, allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, safety and risk management, and more.
This is a nationally recognised course (HLTAID011 Provide First Aid).

Description: This is a free, non-accredited, online training course provided by the NSW Food Authority.
This course covers important basic food safety and hygiene knowledge for people handling and serving food in the retail business sector.

Description: The TAFE YES Programs aim to provide local High School students aged 15-17yrs with a taste of the basic skills and knowledge required for their chosen industry area. For more information on the YES programs, please contact your School Careers Counsellor

Description: Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey into one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing sectors in NSW? This course is designed for individuals who would like to explore the diverse roles and opportunities to visitor economy has to offer. At the end of this course you will recognise the impact of the visitor economy on NSW, explore career paths and opportunities, assess your own career opportunities and determine the best path to achieve them.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
Description: With an introduction to both genetics and forensic science, this course will show you the role of DNA in criminal investigations. Case studies illustrate how forensic investigations have changed with advances in genetics and how future developments will affect criminals and investigators.

Description: This online micro-credential will introduce you to Integration. This includes integrating polynomials and basic functions, integrating by substitution, and basic application of integration to solve mathematical problems.

Self Development and Future Readiness
Description: This online micro-credential is designed to provide you with work-ready skills including interpreting and responding to job advertisements and selection criteria, writing application letters and resumes and developing interview skills for job seekers.
Duration: 4 hours online self-paced learning

Description: In this micro-credential you will develop skills to investigate and research tertiary and vocational study options, entry programs and financial assistance. You will look at the realities of post school study considering the effective navigators required to make informed choices about career and life design.
