Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers are invited to get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school.

We firmly believe that strong communiity connections improve the school experience for all.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

The aim of the P&C is to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students, and teachers into close cooperation. The P&C supports the provision of facilities and equipment and works to promote the wellbeing of Asquith High School students.

The P&C’s functions include reporting on the school’s material requirements; advising on alterations, maintenance, and additions to facilities; cooperating with staff in public functions associated with Asquith High School; and electing parent representatives to school committees as required. The P&C also advocates to government when necessary to help ensure the school receives its fair share of funding.

We encourage you to become involved in the P&C and partner with the school in supporting your child’s education.

Meetings

Meetings are held at 7pm on the 2nd Wednesday of the month during school terms. The meetings follow a set format but are relaxed and welcoming. The Principal attends to provide updates on current and upcoming school matters, and at times staff or community members join to speak on topics of interest. Meetings provide an opportunity to discuss areas of interest or concern for the school and parent community, helping parents gain a deeper understanding of how the school operates and how they can offer support where needed.

Grounds

Asquith P & C actively supports school and grounds maintenance by funding additional maintenance staff. These funds come from the P&C garden levy included in the annual fees for each student and allow a professional gardener to be employed on a regular, casual basis throughout the year, rather than relying on ad hoc working bees.

Fundraising

The P&C undertakes fundraising to help provide additional facilities and resources that enhance students’ education. Working closely with the School Executive, we identify priorities that sit outside the school’s core funding. Most of the P&C’s financial support comes from parent contributions.

Recent P&C initiatives include funding the installation of water bottle refill stations in the canteen areas and the supply and installation of a large fan in the school hall.
