Asquith Individualised Mentoring
Asquith Individualised Mentoring (AIM) Program
The Asquith Individualised Mentoring (AIM) Program is a key part of how we support every student to feel known, valued and cared for. It helps students build strong connections at school while developing the confidence, skills and mindset needed to succeed in their learning.
Each student is supported by an AIM mentor teacher who works with them over time to build a positive and supportive relationship. Through regular one-to-one mentoring conversations, students discuss their goals and aspirations, reflect on their progress and develop strategies to strengthen their learning.
Students meet with their AIM mentor at least once each term for individual mentoring sessions focused on goal setting, progress and next steps. Throughout the year, students also take part in small group AIM sessions that explore the Habits of Mind and other learning strategies.
The program helps students to:
- set meaningful learning goals
- reflect on their progress and achievements
- develop resilience, confidence and a growth mindset
- strengthen decision-making, communication and problem-solving skills
- take greater ownership of their learning.
A key feature of AIM is our Student Led Parent Teacher Conferences, where students, families and mentors come together to discuss learning progress, celebrate success and identify next steps for growth.
The program is supported by ongoing staff professional learning, including collaboration with international educator James Anderson, helping ensure our mentoring approach continues to provide meaningful support for every student.
